The lowdown
- Start with the boundaries and save yourself a faff. Peg 1 sits at the South Lagoon inlet, and the club’s river fishing extends to the boundary fence behind Heron Lake. That’s your stretch to work within.
- The derelict boathouse marks peg 15, giving you a handy landmark along the river. With 40 river pegs listed by the club, there’s more to this venue than just the inlet end.
- Fancy targeting carp? The upstream end is worth your attention: that’s where double-figure carp have been reported. Treat that as a pointer for choosing your swim, not a promise of a run.
- Large bream get a mention on the venue page too. A feeder approach is worth considering if they’re your target, but let the conditions in front of you decide the tackle rather than assuming every peg fishes alike.
- You can park behind swims as far as the nature reserve. Beyond that, the reserve’s hardstanding serves the remaining pegs on foot. Pick your end before unloading the whole lot — it could save some lugging.
- Access comes through Wyboston Lakes Complex, using postcode MK44 3AL. The upstream track and swims can become overgrown, so don’t bank on that end being a completely clear, no-faff route to the water.
- A cheeky evening can become a night session without advance booking, but night rates kick in once you fish into darkness. Only one night at a time is allowed, and the river shuts for the close season from 15 March to 15 June.
Methods: A feeder is an option for the named large bream, while carp anglers have the upstream reports as a useful starting point. Choose your setup to suit the swim and conditions on the day.

Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.
