We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready

The lowdown

  • The fishery starts at My Lady Ferry and finishes at Islet Road, running downstream past Cliveden Deep towards Maidenhead.
  • You’re fishing the right bank when looking downstream. Handy landmark stuff, especially when planning access and parking.
  • It’s a cracking-looking bit of river, with the wooded Cliveden Estate bank and a tree-lined Thames Path giving the reach a proper Thames feel.
  • The reach is described as a pleasant section between Cookham and Maidenhead. Expect a natural, scenic setting rather than a tidy row of numbered pegs.
  • Good roach fishing is reported here. A float approach around the crease and steadier water looks the obvious starting point when conditions are kind.
  • Dace are also reported as fishing well. Trotting a float through the quicker bits could be bob on, particularly when there’s a bit of colour in the river.
  • The reach includes Cliveden Deep, so there’s useful variation in depth and character as the river works downstream towards Islet Road.
  • Night fishing is permitted on the fishery, which gives members more flexibility when planning a session. Check the club’s current arrangements before heading out.
  • Parking is listed in Islet Road, SL6 8LE. Boulters Lock public car park, SL6 8JB, is another access option for the Cliveden reach.
  • There’s no published peg count or full species list for this stretch. Also note the TVAA Cookham information prohibits fishing in front of cottages between Cookham Bridge and the yacht marina.
  • We're not sure on ticket prices for this one — check with the club or local regulations before you leave.

Methods: Float fishing and trotting for dace and roach are the natural first calls, with a feeder worth considering where the river is deeper around the crease and Cliveden Deep. Keep things mobile and look for the pace changes.
