We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- It’s a tucked-away bit of the Ouse, with Brock’s Field sitting between Coulson’s Field upstream and Lavendon Road downstream. Nice and secluded.
- The water isn’t all one pace. Expect slower areas alongside deeper water, so there should be options whether you fancy a float or a feeder.
- Far-bank cover and other fish-holding features are the main things to pick out. Get your bait near the cover, but don’t go charging in tight if the fish are spooky.
- Early season can be a good shout, with the association reporting tench and carp catches. Worth keeping an eye on the quieter, warmer-looking water.
- There are also bags of silverfish during the season, so a light float approach could be bob on when the river is settled.
- For carp or tench, fish sensibly to the features with suitable tackle and keep an unhooking mat ready for specimen fishing.
- A feeder is the obvious fallback when there’s a bit of flow, while trotting can be well worth a go in the steadier runs if the fish are on the munch.
- Night fishing is permitted, but it’s properly rule-heavy after dark. Bite alarms or night-lights are required after sundown, and guests can’t be at pegs between 8pm and 8am.
- Access is through the housing estate opposite Sainsbury’s on the B508 out of Olney towards Lavendon. The gate is locked, needs an access code and must be locked again after entry or exit.
- Parking is described as plentiful near the access gate, but use designated car parks where provided and don’t take cars through meadow gates without permission.
Methods: Try a float or trotting approach in the slower water for silverfish, then switch to feeder tactics around deeper areas and far-bank cover. For carp and tench, fish carefully to the features and have the unhooking kit ready.

Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.
