Radclive — three River Great Ouse stretches

Radclive is three River Great Ouse stretches near Radclive Bridge and Tingewick Mill, added to the Buckingham & District Angling Association ticket in 2024. Proper handy-looking river water for pleasure fishing, matches and specimen hunting, with day tickets available in advance.

The lowdown

  • This is flowing Great Ouse water around the bridge, mill and weir area, so expect a bit of movement rather than a flat, sleepy canal-style swim.
  • Radclive is made up of three separate stretches. The official venue map gives the location and access-point details, so that’s the one to check before setting off.
  • The association controls around five miles of Great Ouse centred on Buckingham. Radclive adds a newer bit of that ticket, having joined in 2024.
  • There’s no published peg count or measured length for the individual stretches, so it’s best not to turn up expecting a numbered-peg setup.
  • The river is described as suitable for pleasure anglers, match anglers and specimen hunters. That gives you plenty of scope, from a tidy session to having a proper go for something bigger.
  • With flowing water around the bridge, mill and weir, look for the crease, steadier inside lines and any slack water tucked out of the main push. Trotting or a feeder approach should suit the character, depending on conditions.
  • A touch of colour and extra water could get the river on the munch. In lower, clearer conditions, a careful bait presentation and a quieter peg may be the ticket.
  • Fishing is available from 16 June to 14 March inclusive. There’s no stated night-fishing permission, so stick to daytime unless the association confirms otherwise.
  • Take all litter home, return fish alive, and make sure keepnets and other tackle meet the association’s byelaws. Some venues use combination locks, so check the access instructions when booking.

Methods: Go light and mobile with a float or feeder, working the crease, steadier edges and slack water around the bridge, mill and weir features. A bit of colour and extra flow should make the river worth a proper look.

Fish the club names

The club doesn't list species for this stretch, so we haven't guessed.

Named by Buckingham & District Angling Association across its waters, not for this stretch on its own.

Key rules

  • The coarse-fishing season runs from 16 June to 14 March inclusive.
  • An Environment Agency rod licence is required.
  • All fish must be returned alive except where the association’s rules provide otherwise.
  • Anglers must remove litter from their peg and take it home.
  • Keepnets and other tackle must comply with the association’s byelaws.
  • Day tickets must be bought in advance.
  • Check the venue map and access instructions, as the association uses combination locks at some venues.

Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.
