Bourne End — Marlow AC / LAA Shared Stretch
A cracking, more-than-a-mile Thames stretch between Bourne End and Marlow, shared by Marlow Angling Club and the London Anglers’ Association. It’s north-bank fishing with shallow margins, proper bream and chub potential, and good roach sport if you’re prepared to float fish.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- The fishery runs from the fence by the chalets, including the wharf, upstream to the Environment Agency gate opposite Wootton’s boathouse. That’s more than a mile of riverbank to explore.
- It’s bank fishing, with some swims fishable from the bank. The margins are often shallow, so don’t ignore the waders — they can open up a few extra options.
- Ledgering is the LAA’s suggested way to get over those shallow edges. Keep an eye out for the crease and any slightly deeper-looking water.
- Bream and chub make up the best bags, with the LAA reporting catches that can push beyond 50 lb. Proper Thames fishing when they’re on the munch.
- Roach are worth a dedicated float-fishing session. A steady trot through the run could be bob on when conditions suit.
- Dace and perch are also named for the fishery, giving you a bit of variety when the bigger fish aren’t playing ball.
- There are some cracking-looking features to work around the wharf and the varied bank swims. Take your time and fish each bit of cover or change in depth.
- The stretch is bookable water on Sundays, and night fishing is permitted on the LAA Bourne End fishery. Handy if you fancy a quieter session.
- Access is via Coldmoorholme Lane from the A4155, across the level crossing and down to the fishery. There’s a public car park nearby, but anglers’ vehicles must not go over the railway.
- The top two meadows are strictly private. Keep to the riverbanks, and leave the coach entrance locked after use. No faffing about with trespass here.
Methods: Float fish for roach and dace, especially where there’s a steady run. For the shallow margins and bigger bream or chub bags, ledgering is the practical shout.
