We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- This is a proper club length at Anderton Nature Park, close to Anderton village and roughly a mile from Barnton. The club controls the fishing rights here.
- The water is listed as a 20-peg length. No individual peg detail is given, so expect a numbered club stretch rather than a mystery wander.
- There’s secure car parking about halfway along the stretch. Get in from Lift Lane, Anderton, using postcode CW9 6AQ.
- The butterfly gates at the car park lead onto the tarmac path down to the river. A council-issued access key is needed for the relevant car-park and path barriers.
- The River Weaver is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. Outside that window, the club holds matches on its Weaver water during the season, so check the club position before settling in.
- Bream, skimmers, roach, perch, tench, chub, eels, crucians and some carp are listed for the water. That gives you plenty to aim at, from a steady float session to a patient feeder approach.
- Groundbait and liquidised bread are allowed on the River Weaver club length. Loose feeding of hook baits is fine in moderation, so keep it tidy rather than piling it in.
- Frozen coarse and sea dead baits are allowed when pleasure fishing. Bloodworm and joker are prohibited in club waters, so leave those at home.
- The Junior, Middle and Top Cisterns are about 400 yards away. Worth knowing if you’re planning a wander around the wider Anderton area, though they’re separate from this 20-peg length.
Methods: Float and feeder tactics should both fit the listed mix of silverfish, bream, tench and perch. Groundbait, liquidised bread and moderate loose feeding are allowed, while bloodworm and joker are a definite no-go.
