River Severn — Birds Meadow, The Mythe, Tewkesbury
Birds Meadow at The Mythe is a members-only Severn stretch run by Birmingham Anglers Association, listed alongside Ripple. Very deep water, bream shoals and a mix of other river fish give this Gloucestershire venue plenty of appeal.

The lowdown
- The big feature here is depth. BAA describes its combined Ripple & Birds Meadow fishery as very deep water — that's the main bit of bank-side character to keep in mind, rather than expecting a shallow-water stretch.
- Bream shoals get a proper mention in the combined fishery description. If bream are your thing, they're a named attraction here, although BAA doesn't split that description into individual Birds Meadow swims or point you towards a particular peg.
- Chub and roach are described as present in fair numbers, with a few large barbel also mentioned. That wording matters: the barbel are an extra draw, not a promise of loads of them queueing up in your swim.
- Pike and zander fishing both get highlighted too. So the appeal isn't just about bream and silver fish; predator anglers have two named species to consider in this deep-water Severn fishery.
- Getting there starts at M50 junction 1. Take the A38 south towards Tewkesbury, then turn right beside Tewkesbury Garden Centre before the Ledbury turning. That's the published approach for the combined venue.
- There's parking at the bottom of the hill, or you can follow the track into Birds Meadow and park in the field. Have your membership card handy: the gate combination is printed on it. Shut and lock gates afterwards.
- Fancy an overnight session? Check with BAA first. The combined page mentions a night permit, but the separate eligible-venues list names Ripple rather than Birds Meadow. Don't assume the shared listing gives Birds Meadow the same overnight access.
Methods: Bream, chub and roach give you the coarse-fishing options, while pike and zander fishing are specifically highlighted. The combined listing doesn't specify rigs or tactics; very deep water is the key feature it flags.
