River Trent – Collingham, Cromwell Weir to Collingham Parish Boundary
A proper tidal Trent stretch below Cromwell Weir, running downstream to the Collingham parish boundary. It’s a challenging, fairly featureless bit of river with roughly 106 pegs, barbel on the cards and enough room for pleasure anglers, match anglers and specimen hunters.

River Trent – Collingham, Cromwell Weir to Collingham Parish Boundary
The lowdown
- The water sits below Cromwell Weir and has a noticeable twice-daily rise and fall, so keep an eye on that tidal movement. The river can change character through the session.
- The association calls it a challenging, relatively featureless stretch. Don’t expect loads of obvious features — finding the crease and reading the flow will be the main game.
- Barbel are specifically mentioned for this stretch. They’re the headline target, with specimen hunters making up part of the venue’s following.
- The club advises using casters, maggots, hemp, boilies and pellets. That gives you plenty of scope, from a tidy bait-and-wait approach to a more active coarse session.
- For a busy match-style day, maggots or casters are the obvious starting point. Hemp, boilies and pellets give you options when you want to build a more selective attack.
- There are approximately 106 pegs in total. Pegs W5 to W9 and 1 to 19 are open to temporary and permanent members, as are pegs 20 to 50 and pegs 51 to 72 and 82 to 106.
- The W1 to W19 section is reached via Westfield Lane. Temporary members cannot drive to those pegs, so there’s a bit more faff with access there.
- The remaining main sections are accessed from Carlton Ferry Lane, with parking behind the pegs allowed subject to conditions. Private members-only pegs include 72 to 81 and CF1 to CF30.
- Pegs W1 to W4 must be booked through the bailiff. They cost £150 to book, and the first seven days of each month are members-only on those pegs.
Methods: Keep it simple and read the tide. Trotting, feeder work or a bait-and-wait approach with hemp, boilies and pellets all fit the venue, with barbel the obvious target.
