River Trent – Dunham Bridge
The lowdown
- The fishery starts beneath Dunham Bridge, by the large car park and flood-bank area near Marsh Lane.
- Look for the secured gate and stile marked with SAA signs. That is your foot access onto the bank.
- The full stretch is accessed on foot, with the downstream limit just before the pump house around the river bend.
- The water is tidal River Trent, giving this venue a proper big-river feel and a good mix of named coarse species.
- Barbel, chub, bream, roach, perch, pike and zander are all named for the fishery. A fair old spread, that.
- It is a little over a mile of fishing, but vehicles are not allowed onto the bank. Travel light and be ready for a walk.
- Parking is at the bridge car park or flood-bank area near Marsh Lane. Do not block farm entrances, and avoid parking in the lane because buses use it to turn.
- The ground can turn very soft after rain, so sensible footwear is bob on. No point creating a muddy faff before you even reach the swim.
- This is membership-controlled water rather than a general day-ticket venue. The current SAA day-ticket page says tickets are not currently available here.
- The statutory coarse-fish close season applies, with no fishing from 15 March through 15 June inclusive. Night fishing is allowed, but only with the proper SAA night permit.
- We're not sure on ticket prices for this one — check with the club or local regulations before you leave.
Methods: The checked details describe a tidal Trent coarse-fishing stretch but do not specify particular methods. Night fishing is available subject to SAA’s permit conditions.

Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.
