The lowdown

  • The society says its Fiskerton and Rolleston day-ticket waters hold specimen barbel, chub, pike and carp plus roach, perch and dace — that's said about both stretches together, not swim by swim.
  • Expect boat traffic in summer; the society describes winter days as properly peaceful.
  • The society says both access tracks at Fiskerton and Rolleston have been repaired.

Methods: The society reckons the swims suit everything from stick float to heavy feeder.

Key rules

  • No night fishing.
  • Max 2 rods.
  • No keepnets.
  • Rest big fish (especially barbel) properly in the water before release.
  • Unhooking mats when specimen fishing.
  • Use recognised footpaths only — no crossing fields.
  • No dogs, radios, fires or tents.
  • EA rod licence required.

Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
