River Trent, Ladypitt Farm / Syerston
A cracking River Trent club stretch at Ladypitt Farm, Syerston, with roughly one and a half miles of fishing on the east bank. There’s a proper change of pace around the weir, from shallow gravel and quick water to slower, deeper river above it.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- The fishery sits at Syerston, just south of East Stoke, with Scunthorpe Amalgamated Anglers leasing the fishing rights.
- It’s made up of two separate but adjacent stretches, with access to the full length — including the Meadow stretch. Plenty of water to explore, then.
- Nabb’s Island sits in the middle of the river and is part of the fishery. A cracking feature to keep in mind when choosing a swim.
- The weir is the big landmark. Below it, the Trent is fast and shallow, running over gravel beds. That’s the lively bit of the stretch.
- Below the weir, the club names barbel, chub and roach. The quicker water and gravel give this section a proper river feel.
- Above the weir, things calm right down. The river becomes slow and deep, with roach and bream on the list — including large bream.
- It’s a dawn-to-dusk-only venue, so there’s no night session faff here. The coarse-fish close season applies, with no fishing from 15 March through 15 June inclusive.
- Access is from Fosse Road, Syerston. The main entrance is through a gate near the lay-by and bus stop opposite the Eden Hall junction, with another route from the A46 East Stoke/Syerston slip-road roundabout.
- The access lane can be bumpy and muddy, and there’s a small car park at the bottom. Driving into the meadow is allowed when conditions suit, but gates can be locked in wet weather, winter, before hay harvest or after flooding.
- Sheep may be in the meadows, and dogs are prohibited under the landowner’s rules. Close every gate properly and lock it after use — bob on and essential.
Methods: The fast, shallow water below the weir looks suited to active river fishing, while the slower, deeper water above gives you a different game for working roach and bream swims. Keepnets are not allowed below the weir.
