River Thames — Wallingford B

Wallingford B is RDAA’s day-ticket option on the Thames at Wallingford, with non-member fishing for £10. Keep an eye on the section boundary: neighbouring Wallingford A isn’t covered by that ticket.

The lowdown

  • Fancy a day without joining? Wallingford B allows non-member day-ticket fishing, with booking through RDAA’s linked Clubmate service. Guest tickets are available too, so there’s more than one ticket route here.
  • Get the right section before settling into a swim. The day permit covers B, not Wallingford A — an important distinction when the two appear together on the holder’s venue page.
  • There’s a varied fish list for the combined A & B venue: barbel, chub, roach, perch, zander and pike. That’s the shared venue list, rather than a separate rundown for B alone.
  • Don’t mistake the advertised 3,030 yards for B’s length. That figure covers Wallingford A and B together; there’s no separate B measurement to help you judge the walk along the bank.
  • The calendar matters here. The venue shuts from 15 March through 15 June inclusive, and an ordinary day permit only covers daylight hours. No cheeky extension into darkness on that ticket.
  • Parking needs a bit of care. Downstream spaces are limited, with room for approximately 8–10 carefully parked cars on the roadway between the cemetery and church. A footpath leads down to the river.
  • Leave proper room for vehicles and tractors, and respect residents’ access. Once you’re heading towards your swim, watch for the old fence spikes RDAA warns about — a hazard worth keeping firmly in mind.
  • Keep the setup within B’s rules: no bedchairs, bivvies or umbrellas with sides. Two rods is the limit, and every bit of litter in your swim needs to go home with you.

Methods: The combined venue’s named fish give you several possible targets, but no particular technique is specified for B. Keep your setup to a maximum of two rods.

Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.
