Llandrinio — Lymm AC
Llandrinio is a cracking upper Welsh Severn stretch run by Lymm Angling Club, with roughly a mile or more either side of the road bridge. It’s an all-rounder with gliding runs, proper deep pools and a good mix of coarse and game fish.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- The Llandrinio water sits in Powys, with the club stretch running both upstream and downstream of Llandrinio road bridge. You can get onto fish pretty quickly once you reach the bank.
- The combined length is approximately one mile or more, so there’s plenty of water to explore rather than just a couple of pegs. The first 250 metres below the bridge is different, though — that old Boat House beat is reserved for paying campsite guests.
- The remaining downstream water is for Lymm Angling Club members. No day tickets are advertised for the club section, so membership is the route in.
- It’s described as a fine all-round fishery, with steady gliding runs and deeper holding pools. That gives you options: trot the runs, pick apart the crease or settle over a pool with a feeder.
- Named coarse fish include chub, barbel, roach, perch and dace. There are also grayling and brown trout, while the club says salmon aren’t uncommon here.
- For a mobile session, look for the water where the pace eases into a glide or where deeper water sits below the run. Chub and barbel should make the most of those changes in depth and flow.
- The river is closed to coarse fishing from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. Outside that period, a bit of colour and a sensible approach should give you plenty to work with.
- Night fishing isn’t permitted. Parking is on the grass verge only — don’t use the farmyard parking area — and stick to authorised parking and designated access routes.
- Bring your current physical or electronic membership permit, Environment Agency rod licence, unhooking mat and barbless or micro-barbed hooks. The general rule allows no more than two baited rods unless a water-specific rule says otherwise.
Methods: A proper all-round approach fits this water nicely: trot the gliding runs for dace, roach and grayling, or use feeder tactics around the deeper holding pools for chub and barbel. Keep moving until you find the crease or a swim with a bit of depth.

Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.
