The lowdown

  • This is a proper park-side river setting, with five acres of mature trees and shrubs giving the place plenty of cover and character.
  • The fishing sits around the meeting point of the Severn and River Mule, with the Severn forming part of the park’s river frontage.
  • There’s a designated fishing area marked on the park map, plus 26 touring pitches alongside the two rivers. Handy if you’re staying on site.
  • The holder names trout, pike, barbel, chub, perch and roach as present. A decent mixed bag of river species, then.
  • The Severn is described as suitable for fly fishing. When conditions are right, it’s worth looking for smoother water and working the crease rather than charging straight into the main push.
  • For coarse fishing, trotting or a light feeder would be the obvious starting points, especially around steadier water and any slack formed near the confluence.
  • The mature trees and shrubs should add plenty of shade and cover, but keep an eye on your tackle. Any fishing gear caught in foliage must be reported to reception.
  • There’s loads of wildlife around the fishing areas, including kingfishers, dippers, ducks, herons and goosanders. Treat it as part of the package and give it plenty of room.
  • Night fishing is allowed, but only with prior permission from the office. Don’t just turn up after dark and crack on.
  • It’s strictly catch and release. Pick up litter and discarded fishing items, respect the wildlife, and return every fish safely to the water.
  • We're not sure on ticket prices for this one — check with the club or local regulations before you leave.

Methods: The Severn is suitable for fly fishing, while trotting and feeder work are sensible starting points for the mixed coarse species. Fish the creases, steadier edges and any slack water around the Severn–Mule meeting point.
