041 – River Severn – Alveley Estate
A cracking three-meadow stretch of the middle Severn, with roughly 1,035 yards of left bank at Alveley Estate. It’s an all-round club fishery with both shallow water and deeper swims, plus proper barbel and chub potential.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- Three meadows make up the fishery, covering approximately 1,035 yards of the left bank. Plenty of room to explore, though the exact number of pegs isn’t listed.
- It’s described by the club as an all-round middle Severn fishery. In other words, a bit of everything rather than a one-trick pony.
- The water has both shallows and deeps, so there should be scope for changing approach as conditions and river levels move around.
- Barbel are a big draw here, with double-figure fish produced from the venue. A feeder or other sensible bottom approach is the obvious starting point where the flow allows.
- There are large chub in the stretch too. Keep an eye on steady glides, crease lines and cover, with a trotted bait or light feeder worth having in the armoury.
- Roach and dace are named among the fish, giving you lighter sport when conditions suit. Perch, pike and eel are also on the club’s species list.
- Two rods may be used on club River Severn fisheries all year, subject to the club conditions. Handy if you want one rod looking for barbel while another works a different line.
- Coarse fishing is prohibited during the close season. Salmon fishing and fly fishing for trout are permitted at this venue during that period, subject to the relevant rules.
- There’s no overnight parking at Severndale, where parking is available for six cars. Display a White Swan Piscatorials parking permit, and take care when crossing the Severn Valley Railway track from the Highley side.
- The Country Park and Industrial Estate gates are locked in the evening. Keep dogs on leads, remove litter and don’t leave rods unattended. No boats, swimming, camping, picnics or fires without landowner permission.
Methods: A proper all-rounder: look at feeder or other bottom tactics for barbel, and trotting or light feeder work for chub, roach and dace in the steadier glides. Two rods are allowed, subject to club conditions.
