We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready

The lowdown

  • This is the Myrtle Park length on the River Aire in Bingley, West Yorkshire, with the upstream boundary including Myrtle Park.
  • The right-bank section runs downstream towards Gas Pipe Bridge, while the left-bank water sits alongside the Riverside Walk below Ferrands Arms Car Park.
  • Beckfoot Pedestrian Bridge is one boundary for the described sections, so it’s worth checking the club map before setting up.
  • There’s public-park and riverside-path access around the Myrtle Park section. Handy, though expect a bit of passing foot traffic.
  • The club also lists a Congs, Cricket Field length below Myrtle Park. That one is on the right bank downstream.
  • It’s mixed coarse and game fishing, with all three listed Bingley stretches offering fly fishing for trout. Nice bit of flexibility there.
  • Recently stocked barbel are among the main species, with chub, roach, dace, grayling and trout also named by the club. Large pike are reported too.
  • The Rugby Club length is noted for good chub fishing, while Myrtle Park gives access to one of the club’s three Bingley River Aire stretches.
  • Tackle-wise, the water is set up for both coarse and game approaches. Think feeder or float work for the coarse fish, with fly tackle an option for trout where conditions suit.
  • Sort your ticket before the first cast. The electronic receipt needs to be with you while fishing, either on your phone or as a printed copy.

Methods: A proper mixed-water session is on the cards here: coarse tactics for barbel, chub, roach and dace, or fly fishing for trout. Keep the fly gear handy and choose your approach around the bit of water you’re fishing.
