River Wharfe at Addingham
A cracking Wharfedale trout-and-grayling stretch near Addingham, with the main fishery running from above the Bolton Road pumping station down to Olicana Caravan Park. Much of it is double bank, and day tickets are available online — but numbers are tight, so don’t leave it until the last minute.

River Wharfe at Addingham
The lowdown
- The main water starts upstream of the pumping station on Bolton Road and runs downstream to Olicana Caravan Park. A decent length of river to explore, with much of the fishery available from both banks.
- There’s also a separate opposite-bank section near Low Mill. That bit is members-only, so day-ticket anglers need to stick to the permitted main stretch.
- This is scenic Wharfedale water close to Addingham, Farfield Hall and the Dales Way. Proper countryside surroundings, with livestock grazing fields on both banks.
- Access is via the public footpath or the club gate on Bolton Road, opposite Farfield Hall. From the layby, cross the fence beside the five-bar gate.
- Walk down to Remembrance Pool, then follow the AAA bank signs and limit signs. Keep to the riverside footpaths while moving between swims.
- The named fish are brown trout and grayling. Fly fishing and bait fishing are both allowed, subject to Environment Agency rules, so there’s room to fish to the conditions.
- No spinning is allowed. Barbless or debarbed hooks only, and everything is catch-and-release, with all fish returned.
- Day tickets must be bought online in advance. The club normally releases a maximum of two per day, with up to three extra potentially available for Addingham parish residents under the constitution.
- Day-ticket anglers must pack up no later than one hour after sunset. Night fishing is for members and their guests only, not day-ticket holders. Under-14s must fish with an adult.
Methods: Fly fishing and bait fishing are allowed, subject to Environment Agency rules. Keep it tidy and controlled: one attended rod at a time, barbless or debarbed hooks, and no spinning or cereal groundbait.

Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.
