We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- This is the Becks stretch on the River Teme, near Rushwick and Powick in Worcestershire. It was formerly Bransford Angling Club water before coming under Worcester Angling Society.
- The water runs from around Rushwick railway bridge downstream to the end of the second meadow above the weir. That gives it a decent bit of river to explore, though no official length is listed.
- It’s a rural meadow-and-river fishery rather than a tidy stillwater job. Expect a proper countryside setting and footpath access around the water.
- The Society describes Becks as renowned for barbel and chub. Across its wider Teme waters, the focus is on specimen barbel and quality chub fishing.
- Access is available via Becks Farm on Upper Wick Lane. There’s also an approach from the Bransford Bridge lay-by near the Fox pub, using the public footpath.
- There’s a relatively long walk from the lay-by to parts of the stretch, so pack sensibly and don’t fancy taking the kitchen sink. Parking is associated with the lay-by, not the private access lane.
- Do not park in Upper Wick Lane. The holder also asks anglers not to obstruct access roads or properties. Close every gate behind you — simple stuff, but proper important here.
- This is a quality barbel-and-chub venue, so the appeal is the river itself and working out the swims rather than fishing numbered pegs. No official peg count is given.
- The statutory coarse-fishing close season applies from 15 March to 15 June. Outside that period, permits must be sorted before fishing, with no pay-on-the-bank option.
- Society bailiffs carry out regular checks. Keep your permit and current Environment Agency rod licence in order, and you’ll avoid any needless faff on the bank.
Methods: The checked details point firmly towards barbel and chub fishing on a quality river stretch. No specific bait or tackle approach is listed, so it’s best not to overcomplicate the plan.
