The lowdown
- The main river has 26 match pegs, refurbished during 2017-2018. Robust steps and bottom-stage platforms make getting settled in a fair bit safer.
- Pegs 27-35 sit in the lock channel opposite Fladbury Island. That section was created in 2019 and is considered a good pole-fishing option.
- There’s varied peg choice and proper flowing river water throughout the fishery. Barbel are elusive, but they do show in both matches and pleasure sessions.
- The lock channel can come into its own when the river is rising. Handy little alternative if the main river is pushing through a bit too hard.
- This is a match-friendly venue, with the full 26-peg section available for club bookings. A half booking covers 13 pegs, so there’s some flexibility.
- Pleasure anglers need the right Girling Angling Society membership, and fishing is only allowed when no match is booked. Check the Society calendar before setting off.
- There are bailiffs patrolling daily, so have your membership card with you before fishing. No faffing about on that one.
- Safe roadside parking is available near the fishery, while pleasure anglers are directed to Mill Lane Car Park. From there, it’s roughly a 300-yard walk towards the river before reaching the peg access route.
- On match days, parking behind the pegs may be available. The WR10 3NG postcode gets you close to Jubilee Bridge, near Fladbury village between Evesham and Pershore.
Methods: There’s scope for classic flowing-water work, with pole fishing particularly suited to the lock channel. Barbel, chub, roach and dace make trotting or feeder approaches worth considering, while the varied pegs give you options as conditions change.
