We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- This venue is split into Pershore left bank, Pershore right bank and Pensham. Handy if you fancy a change of scene without leaving the same stretch.
- The Pershore water averages around 4–6 feet deep. It’s the more flowing and relatively shallower section of the venue.
- Roach, chub and barbel are named for Pershore. That gives the section a proper mixed-fishing feel, whether you’re after bites or hoping for something a bit more muscular.
- Pensham fishes deeper and slower than Pershore. Bream are the main species there, with pike and zander also named for the section.
- It’s a well-known match and pleasure-fishing venue, so there’s plenty of scope for a relaxed session or a more competitive day on the bank.
- Pershore left-bank access is split between the public car park at Pershore Bridge and a BAA gated track off Yock Lane. Check the section details before setting off.
- The right bank is reached through a gated field entrance below Pershore Bridge. Nothing fancy — just make sure the gate is shut and locked after you.
- Pensham has its own BAA car park near the village. The nearby postcode is WR10 3HB, which should make the sat-nav faff a bit easier.
- The river character changes nicely between sections: flowing Pershore water at one end, then deeper and slower Pensham water. Pick the sort of swim that suits your plan.
- There’s no night fishing here, and access is controlled by BAA membership rather than a public day ticket. Bring your valid Environment Agency rod licence too.
Methods: The venue is used for both match and pleasure fishing. The changing depth and flow mean Pershore and Pensham offer noticeably different types of swim.
