The lowdown
- The Home Park section runs from the railway bridge to Victoria Bridge, while Potts Field runs from the boatyard fence to the railway bridge.
- It’s a well-kept park setting beside Windsor Castle, with open banks and multiple swims rather than a fixed numbered-peg layout.
- There are loads of ways to fish it. Stick-float tactics are spot on for roach and dace, especially where you can work the flow and keep the bait moving.
- Ledgering is the go-to for bream, carp and barbel. Pick out steadier water and likely holding spots, then settle in and let the river do its thing.
- Spinning is suitable for perch and pike, giving you a more mobile approach when you fancy covering water rather than sitting on one swim.
- The stretch is available to day-ticket anglers from dawn to dusk, so it suits an early start or a full day without any faff over night fishing.
- OWAC members get unlimited fishing on club waters, subject to the club rules and the Environment Agency close season. Members can also night fish, with a maximum stay of 24 hours.
- Keep an eye on the Potts Field lock cut: fishing there is prohibited before 1 November each season. There’s also no return within 24 hours.
- Parking is available at the Home Park Sports Field pay-and-display car park. Club members can use the designated spaces with the required car sticker.
Methods: Try a stick float for roach and dace, ledger for bream, carp and barbel, or spin for perch and pike. A proper all-round Thames session, with plenty of scope to change tactics if the fish aren’t on the munch.
