We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- This is part of the LAA’s Littleport–Ten Mile Bank fishery, stretching for almost ten miles. So there’s plenty of water to explore rather than just one tight little section.
- The river runs through very open, flat Fenland countryside. Lovely and spacious, but that openness means wind can be a proper nuisance.
- Both banks are included in the wider fishery, giving you options when one side is awkward or the wind is pushing hard.
- The water is described as wide, straight, slow and deep. That points towards steady work with a feeder, or a float approach where you can find a comfortable glide.
- Bream are a big draw here, with the LAA describing the fishery as producing big bags. A cracking option when you fancy settling in and building a swim.
- Quality roach are specifically named too. Look for the steadier water and keep the presentation tidy if you’re trotting or fishing light.
- Pike, zander and perch are all named for the fishery. Zander are especially worth keeping in mind, with night fishing available for anglers targeting them and other species.
- The park frontage sits near the Littleport village section of the wider fishery, directly beside the Great Ouse at 21 New River Bank.
- Road access is available at multiple points, though some sections mean a walk over the flood bank. It’s worth travelling light and avoiding a needless faff with gear.
- Parking is available at many points, but don’t obstruct access. The open banks and deep, slow river make this one for planning your swim rather than charging in blind.
- We're not sure on ticket prices for this one — check with the club or local regulations before you leave.
Methods: For bream, a feeder approach suits the wide, deep and steady water, while roach can be tackled with a float where the flow allows. Pike, perch and zander add options, with night fishing available for zander and other species.
