Bridge Meadow
Bridge Meadow is a cracking little 400-metre stretch of the Dorset Stour, running downstream to Durweston Bridge. It’s single-bank fishing on the true right bank, with a medium pace, 4–6ft of water and a decent mix of coarse fish.

The lowdown
- Fishing is from the south side of the river only, so don’t go wandering onto the opposite bank. It’s a proper single-bank setup.
- The stretch runs from the field boundary downstream to Durweston Bridge. Short, manageable and fairly straightforward to get your head around.
- Expect medium-paced water, generally around 4–6ft deep. That should suit trotting, feeder work and a bit of close-in plumbing.
- Summer brings plenty of weed, so leave the ultra-light gear at home and be ready to find clearer lanes and the crease.
- Named fish include roach, dace, large perch, chub, pike and gudgeon. A nice mixed bag rather than a one-species water.
- The club says it fishes better as the season progresses. As autumn rolls in, keep an eye on the deeper runs and steadier water.
- For silverfish, trotting should be well worth a go where the flow is clean. A feeder gives you another option when the river has a bit of colour.
- Perch and chub are part of the mix, while pike give you a cheeky predator angle. Keep tackle sensible around weed and moving water.
- Access is through a gate between trees, roughly 150 metres southeast of Water Lane. Park on the grass verge either side of the gate — never in Water Lane.
Methods: Trotting and feeder fishing are the obvious starting points in the medium flow, with clearer gaps in the summer weed worth targeting. Perch, chub and pike offer a change of gear when the mixed coarse fishing slows.
