The full rundown on Peatling Pools
Peatling Pools is on Bruntingthorpe Road in Peatling Parva, near Lutterworth, with a mixed coarse line-up and six named pools to get your head round. This isn’t just a carp-only proposition: carp, barbel, tench, bream, roach, rudd and perch are listed across the fishery. That gives the venue a broad appeal, whether your idea of a good day is watching a float or putting together a mixed bag.
The pool sizes give you a useful starting point when choosing where to head. Malcolm and Magna are each just over half an acre, while Parva is a quarter-acre pool accommodating eight anglers. Parva also has trees sheltering it on three sides — a proper distinguishing feature if you like a tucked-away setting. Those are compact waters, rather than somewhere to scratch an itch for big-water fishing.
Elsewhere, Plough has 29 pegs and Harrow has 30, while Secret Pool has eight to ten. That’s a fair spread of layouts on paper, from smaller groups of anglers to pools with considerably more pegs. Don’t read peg numbers as a promise of spare swims, though. If you’re organising a match rather than a pleasure session, the booking number is the fishery, so you’ve got a straightforward route to sort it.
Day tickets are sold bankside, which keeps that part of the day simple. There are separate adult one-rod and two-rod tickets, plus junior, OAP and disabled rates that change between midweek and weekends or bank holidays. A match ticket is listed too. The important bit when packing is that two rods is the maximum, not an invitation to bring a third setup into play if the fishing gets interesting.
The bank rules are worth sorting before you leave home. Hooks must be barbless, keepnets are restricted to matches, and groundbait is allowed only in moderation. Think measured feeding rather than chucking it in for the sake of it. Carp mats are required for weighing and photography, and under-16s need an adult along. Night fishing is prohibited, so this is firmly a daytime outing rather than a bivvy-and-brew overnighter.
There’s a car park, and the address to aim for is Bruntingthorpe Road, Peatling Parva, LE17 5RB. One final bit that could save a faff: the separate Peatling Match Lakes lie opposite. Make sure you’re heading for Peatling Pools when arranging your day. Overall, the appeal is the choice of pool formats and mixed species, with clear daytime hours and a fairly straightforward set of fishing rules.

Zigs in the warmer months
In clear, deep water carp often sit up in the layers on warm days. A zig is the only way to get a bait in front of them.
- Start at half depth and move up or down a foot at a time until you get bites.
- Black or foam hookbaits work well on bright days.
- Keep it simple — no freebies needed.
carp
A bigger bed of bait at range
On wide, open water the fish move about a lot — a decent bed of bait at range holds a passing group long enough to get a bite.
- Find a clean, hard spot with a marker float and clip up so every cast lands on it.
- Spread the bait with a spod or throwing stick — little and often.
- Mix boilies, pellet and particles so there's always something left for the fish to graze.
- Match the hookbait to the freebies.

How we'd fish each lake
Our own suggestions, worked out from each lake's features, its main fish and the venue rules. They're tried-and-tested methods, not reports from this venue, so watch the water and ask in the tackle shop on the day.
Malcolm Pool
carp
A neat lead-clip rig over a light scattering of bait
When you don't know the lake well yet, the simplest approach is the best start: a reliable bottom bait rig on a clean spot, with just enough bait to get a bite without filling them up.
- Feel the lead down to find a firm spot, then clip up so you hit it every cast.
- Fish a single boilie or wafter with 20–30 freebies around it.
- Leave one rod roving and recast it to showing fish.
Magna Pool
carp

Our take on the feedback
Our read
Checked Sept '26 — “Peatling Pools offers six named coarse pools, bankside day tickets and a mix of carp, barbel and silver fish. There’s a choice of compact waters and bigger pegged pools — just don’t confuse it with the separate Peatling Match Lakes opposite.”
This is our own summary of recurring public feedback and the venue details we checked, not a copied customer review or a promise you’ll catch. Feedback changes, so we keep it separate from the Tackle Index score.
