We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- This is a club-members-only bit of the Severn, with the right Lymm Angling Club membership permit needed before you wet a line.
- The big draw is the specimen-sized barbel, but the club also names chub, pike and carp here. Roach and perch are present too.
- The River Tern and River Severn confluence can be fished from the area. The club reckons it is a renowned barbel spot in suitable conditions.
- There is no detailed swim or peg count supplied, so expect to explore rather than turning up with a numbered-peg game plan.
- The access is through a gated track. A combination lock may be fitted, with the gate code held in the Lymm Angling Club members area.
- Park at the end of the gated track, in the authorised area and at your own risk. From there, walk to the end and turn left; the river is about 50 metres away.
- For barbel, the confluence is the obvious feature to investigate when conditions are suitable. Keep an eye on the river and choose your approach around what the flow is doing.
- A sensible starting point is barbel gear and a feeder-style approach, while chub, roach and perch give you other coarse options. Pike and carp are also named for the stretch.
- There is no night fishing here. The river close season runs from 15 March to 15 June inclusive unless additional water-specific rules apply.
Methods: Barbel are the headline target, especially around the confluence in suitable conditions, with feeder tactics a sensible starting point. Chub, roach, perch, carp and pike are also named for the stretch, so adapt your approach to the swim and conditions.

- Carry a current electronic or physical Lymm Angling Club membership permit, and follow club and Environment Agency rules and bylaws.
- Fishing is not allowed nearer than ten yards from another angler except by agreement or on designated pegs.
- No more than two baited rods may be used unless water-specific rules allow otherwise.
- Fish must not be removed from club waters.
- Barbless or micro-barbed hooks are required.
- An appropriate unhooking mat and fish-care treatment are compulsory.
- The coarse-fishing close season is 15 March to 15 June inclusive on rivers unless additional rules apply.
Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.
