River Severn — Apley Estate, north of Bridgnorth

Apley Estate gives BAA members half a mile of left-bank Severn fishing north of Bridgnorth, with barbel, chub, roach and perch on the list. It’s beside the A442, with daytime fishing only.

Run by Birmingham Anglers Association · checked 5 Oct 2026

The lowdown

  • Half a mile of left-bank fishing is the headline here. That’s the published length for Apley Estate, so keep this particular bit of Severn in mind rather than treating the neighbouring bank as included.
  • BAA names barbel, chub, roach and perch for the stretch. A cracking mix to have on your radar, without making this all about barbel and overlooking the other fish named here.
  • The checked details don’t pin down depths, pace or individual swims. Pick your approach to suit the water in front of you rather than arriving with a particular glide or crease already promised.
  • For the drive in, take the A442 from Bridgnorth towards Telford. The stretch lies beside that road, and the upstream car park is on your left when approaching from Bridgnorth.
  • For that upstream parking spot, BAA gives WV15 5JP and what3words frown.relating.foot. Keep those handy for the journey; they’re the specific location details supplied for this car park.
  • Field entrances are another parking option, but don’t drive across the fields. At the entrance between the two upstream fields, tuck well to one side so wide farm vehicles can get through.
  • This is a daytime-only session: night fishing is prohibited. Whatever your target, plan the trip around that restriction rather than banking on a cheeky overnight stay beside the rods.
  • Sort your BAA membership before fishing, carry the card and have the appropriate EA licence too. Membership follows the calendar year, not twelve months from purchase, so check the expiry when planning ahead.

Methods: Let the swim dictate the approach rather than assuming particular depths or flow. Barbel, chub, roach and perch are named here, but no stretch-specific method advice is supplied.
