The full rundown on Packington Somers Fishery

Packington Somers sits within the Packington Estate's parkland in the Meriden Gap between Birmingham and Coventry, and has grown from former gravel workings into a genuinely large complex — the estate's own copy counts 13 lakes and pools, headed by the 60-peg Molands which has hosted the Sensas International and Drennan 'All Winners' finals among others.

It's a permanently manned, lodge-based day-ticket fishery (café and tackle shop on site) rather than a prebooked specimen water, and the estate publishes separate summer and winter price tables — at the time of checking, summer 2024 day tickets were £11 adult / £9 OAP-junior, rising slightly for two rods, with winter 2024/25 day tickets at £9 / £7.50 and no half-day tickets available over winter — treat these as dated and check the estate's current prices page before travelling.

The fishery's weekly match reports (published on its own site) are a genuinely useful, dated source on current form — a mid-August 2026 report had carp to 20lb coming to pleasure anglers on dog biscuit and zig rigs on Molands, with match weights well over 100lb on Gearys — but we haven't found much independent third-party review commentary beyond listings that largely repeat the estate's own text, which is itself worth flagging.

Do prices change between summer and winter?

Yes — the estate publishes separate summer and winter price tables, and winter doesn't offer half-day tickets. Check the current prices page before travelling since these are dated figures.

Both — it's a genuine dual-purpose complex, hosting major opens and finals (Sensas International, Drennan finals) while also running as an everyday day-ticket venue for pleasure anglers.
