We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready

The lowdown

  • This named section sits in rural West Sussex and is associated with Rowner Mill, Wonderful Bridge and nearby Stopham.
  • The Arun here is non-tidal, so you’re fishing proper river water rather than dealing with the push and pull of the tide.
  • There’s a fabulous mill pool in the section. That’s the sort of feature worth giving plenty of attention, especially around the crease and deeper water.
  • Several deep, gentle meanders add a nice bit of variety. Expect quieter-looking swims alongside deeper river features.
  • The water is described as relatively untapped, which gives the whole place a more understated, rural feel. No circus, just a decent bit of Sussex river.
  • It’s a mixed fishery rather than a one-trick pond. Large river pike are present, with roach to 2lb, carp to double figures and bream over 7lb reported.
  • Part of the Wey and Arun Canal is included too. That canal section has a particularly good head of bream, plus tench and carp to double figures.
  • For methods, the river looks suited to working the features with float or feeder tackle, while the canal offers a natural bream, tench and carp option. Keep an eye on the deeper water and the edges of the flow.
  • No separate peg count or stretch length is published, and there’s no dedicated parking spot given for this named section. The nearest readily identifiable landmark is Stopham, postcode RH20 1DS.
  • We're not sure on ticket prices for this one — check with the club or local regulations before you leave.

Methods: A versatile bit of water for float or feeder work on the river, with the mill pool, deeper meanders and canal section all offering different looks. Pike are present too, while the canal is the obvious bream, tench and carp option.
