We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- This is a quiet, tucked-away stretch a few miles from Worcester, with the Malvern Hills sitting in view. Proper peaceful stuff.
- You get nearly one mile of the northern bank, booked exclusively for your group of up to four. No jostling for a swim — bob on.
- The river is nicely varied, with fast shallows, deep pools, gravel-bottom glides and eddies all in the mix.
- Look for the classic Teme features: undercut banks, overhanging willows, mature alders and the crease where faster water meets the slack.
- Several swims are already cut out and prepared, while a mown footpath runs along the bank to make moving between pegs less of a faff.
- Some of the steeper swims have ropes to help with access when it’s wet. Sensible kit and steady feet still matter, mind.
- Barbel are the main draw and are described as prolific and very large, with fish over 12lb recorded. Chub are abundant too, with pike, roach and dace also named.
- Ledgering with meat, feeder fishing, long trotting and roving are all suited to the stretch. Pick your approach around the depth, pace and colour on the day.
- The exclusive booking means you can switch swims and tactics as conditions change. Trotting the glides, feeding the crease or searching deeper water with a feeder all look bob on.
- It’s a day-ticket-style booking for the whole group rather than an individual rod ticket: £65 for all four rods, not £65 each. A two-hour guided tour can be added for £40.
Methods: Ledger with meat, feeder fish, long trot the glides or rove between the prepared swims. Work the creases, deeper pools and cover, especially around the undercut banks and willows.
