Eyebrook Reservoir

Eyebrook is a proper big reservoir with a trout-fishing past and an announced move towards mixed coarse and predator fishing. Current access, tickets and facilities need checking before you load the car.

“5.1/10 — Documented coarse species and a predator-fishing history give it appeal, but current fishing opportunities remain unconfirmed.”

The lowdown

Eyebrook Reservoir is a big-water prospect, not a little pool where you can clock every swim from the car. The fishery address is Great Easton Road, Caldecott, LE16 8RP. There’s one freshwater reservoir here, with a published surface area of 155 hectares. Older angling descriptions called it roughly 400 acres, so either way you’re talking about a substantial bit of water rather than a compact commercial.

The full rundown on Eyebrook Reservoir

Eyebrook Reservoir is a big-water prospect, not a little pool where you can clock every swim from the car. The fishery address is Great Easton Road, Caldecott, LE16 8RP. There’s one freshwater reservoir here, with a published surface area of 155 hectares. Older angling descriptions called it roughly 400 acres, so either way you’re talking about a substantial bit of water rather than a compact commercial.

The important bit is the change in direction. In Anglian Water’s update dated 26 November 2025, lease negotiations were still ongoing. That update explicitly ruled out operating Eyebrook as a game fishery and announced a mixed coarse and predator fishery instead. That’s a big shift for anyone who knows the place through its trout-fishing history. Don’t plan a session around the old operation and assume everything still stands.

Carp and coarse fishing were specifically proposed in Anglian Water’s 2025 stocking policy. Roach, carp and tench are documented reservoir species, while rainbow trout were historically stocked and brown trout were also present. Pike fly-fishing was offered under the former operation, too. There’s plenty of angling history behind the name, but those details aren’t a promise of today’s fishing options, stocking levels or available tickets. Wild brown-trout angling was being explored, not confirmed.

The scale deserves a bit of attention before you start dreaming about a PB. Eyebrook has a mean depth of 5.4 metres, a maximum depth of 10.4 metres and a perimeter of approximately eight kilometres. Those figures give you a useful feel for the reservoir, but they don’t tell you which margins, stretches or deeper water will be open to anglers. The former operator advertised four miles of fishable bank; treat that as a historical description, not today’s access map.

Boats were a proper part of the old setup. Historical facilities included 28 boats, with two disabled-access vessels among them. Current boat hire hasn’t been confirmed, though, and neither have toilets or tackle-shop availability. The former trout season ran from mid-March to October, but that isn’t a verified current season. If a boat or accessible vessel is essential to your day, get a clear answer before making the journey.

Eyebrook does appear in Anglian Water’s online permit-location filter, which gives you somewhere to start your enquiries. It doesn’t settle the booking arrangements, prices or ticket inclusions. Opening hours, season dates, night fishing and venue-specific tackle rules also need checking. The sensible play is to establish what’s actually available first, then sort your approach. Big-water appeal? Absolutely. A confirmed, ready-to-book coarse or predator session? That still needs a straight answer.

We're not sure on ticket prices for this one — check with the club or local regulations before you leave.
