The full rundown on Ringstead Grange Fishery

Ringstead Grange Fishery is now known as Rosewater Carp Fishery, on Station Road in Ringstead, Kettering, Northamptonshire. It’s a mature gravel pit, around 40 years old, covering approximately 36 acres in the Nene Valley. There’s also a short stretch of the River Nene within the venue, giving the place a bit more variety than your standard stillwater. A cracking backdrop for a proper session, whether you’re after carp, tench or a winter predator day.

The headline act is the carp fishing. Resident carp have been caught from 16lb to 42lb-plus, and the official website says the lake holds more than 250 carp. Additional fish stocked from V.S. Fisheries range from 12lb to 24lb. Bigger carp have reportedly been seen but not caught, so there’s clearly a bit of mystery in the mix too. That always keeps things interesting when you’re setting up and wondering what might be mooching about.

The lake has weedy margins and deep gullies, which gives you a few proper features to suss out. Don’t just pile in with the longest chuck you can manage. Have a good look at the margins, watch for signs of fish and spend a bit of time understanding the water before committing to a spot. On a new gravel pit, a sensible amount of observation can save a load of faff later. Bring kit that lets you fish neatly at different ranges, and ask the bailiff what areas have been producing recently.

Tench are present to double figures, adding a tasty coarse-fishing option alongside the carp. Winter day-ticket predator fishing is offered too, so this isn’t only a warm-weather carp venue. Carp and tench fishing opened for the 2026 season on Friday 6 March 2026. If you’re planning a first visit, it’s worth checking the current arrangements when booking and asking what bait, rigs and areas are best suited to your chosen target.

Day tickets cost £15 for 2026 and run from 8am to 8pm, with a maximum of three rods. Visitors aren’t permitted after 8pm, but longer options are available if you want to settle in properly: 24 hours costs £25, 36 hours £38, 48 hours £45 and 72 hours £65. Overnight guests cost £8 per 24 hours. Bookings are made by telephone with the fishery, with payment currently accepted by direct bank transfer only, so get that sorted before travelling.

Facilities are bob on for a longer session, with toilets, showers and secure onsite parking. Takeaways can be delivered to the lake, while shops, a supermarket and fast-food outlets are approximately five minutes away by car. Keep the approach tidy and bring the essentials: a specimen net, unhooking mat and carp-care kit are mandatory bits of sensible preparation here. Barbless hooks are required, and fixed rigs, keepnets, leadcore, tigernuts, drones and laser pointers are prohibited. Retaining slings are for photographs only, with fish held for no longer than 45 minutes.
