Kennington — off A4074 Sandford (AOAA)
A cracking, beautifully preserved bit of Thames — or the Isis, as it’s known locally — at Sandford. It’s feature-rich water with mixed coarse and predator fishing, and the Kennington-side section runs for roughly 915 metres downstream from the car park.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- Access is from the car park at the end of Sandford Lane in Kennington. The stretch starts downstream of there, so there’s no faff finding the top end.
- You’re fishing the right-hand bank looking downstream. The downstream limit is marked by old gate posts, giving you a clear boundary to work with.
- A&OAA describes this as a beautifully preserved stretch with plenty of features to fish to. Proper Thames water, then, rather than a bland bit of bank.
- It’s a mixed coarse and predator venue. Chub, roach, bream, perch and pike are all named for the water, with plenty to keep things interesting.
- The wider species information also includes carp, dace, barbel, brown trout, bleak and gudgeon. A decent spread of Thames fish.
- The facts don’t pin down individual pegs, depths or particular swims, so it’s one to explore rather than turn up expecting a numbered-peg setup.
- For coarse fishing, the stretch is covered by the A&OAA coarse permit. Predator anglers are catered for too, with pike specifically named among the venue’s species.
- The section extends approximately 915 metres downstream. That’s a fair old wander if you fancy looking for the right feature before settling in.
- The boundary details are bob on: car park at the top, old gate posts at the bottom. Handy landmarks when you’re getting your bearings on the bank.
- This is club-controlled water, so stick to the rules and code of conduct for the section. Bailiffs from AOAA and Littlemore Angling Society may check permits and membership cards.
Methods: It’s a mixed coarse and predator stretch, so coarse fishing and pike fishing are both part of the picture. The feature-rich character gives you plenty to fish to, but the checked details don’t specify particular rigs or tactics.
