We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- This is a proper long Severn stretch, with more than 3 miles of unbroken fishing to explore. Plenty of bank to go at, rather than being boxed into a handful of pegs.
- Fishing is from the left bank only. The river is described mainly as barbel and chub water, so those are the main targets for a session here.
- BAA specifically picks out swimfeeder and ledgering as favourite approaches. A sensible starting point if you fancy putting a bait down and waiting for a chunky bite.
- Pike, roach and dace are also present, giving you a few options when the barbel and chub aren’t playing ball.
- Access is off the A442 between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth. The official BAA location is 52.509583, -2.386844, with postcode WV15 6QL.
- There’s roadside parking before Tony’s Café, plus extra roadside parking opposite the Food Stop Café. Don’t just chuck the motor anywhere, though — BAA says to use the places shown in its guide.
- From the parking, you’ll need to walk down the path to reach the river. Keep to the access paths, shut gates behind you and avoid trespassing.
- No night fishing is allowed at Quatford. That makes this a daylight-only venue, so plan around the available hours and don’t be tempted to stretch the session after dark.
- As with the rest of the BAA book, coarse fish must go back alive with as little injury as possible. There’s no taking fish home, apart from invasive non-native species.
Methods: Swimfeeder and ledgering are the banker approaches named by BAA here. The main game is barbel and chub, with pike, roach and dace also available.
