River Severn – Bewdley, Dowles
Dowles is Kidderminster & District Angling Association’s Severn stretch running from Dowles Brook downstream towards Bewdley town. There’s day-ticket fishing on pegs 52–70, with the final two pegs kept for members.

The lowdown
- Get your bearings from Dowles Brook: the stretch heads downstream from there towards Bewdley town. That’s the handy starting point for understanding where Dowles sits within the association’s wider Bewdley fishing.
- The fishery page labels Dowles as pegs 52–72. Don’t confuse that full run with the day-ticket allocation, though — your day ticket covers 52–70, while 71 and 72 are members-only.
- There’s a proper mix of water across the wider Bewdley fishery: fast shallows, steady glides and deeper swims. Those descriptions cover Bewdley generally, rather than promising a particular depth or flow at any Dowles peg.
- Barbel, chub, dace, roach and perch are all named for the wider Bewdley fishery. That gives you the broader fishing picture, but it isn’t a peg-by-peg guide to what’s on the munch at Dowles.
- A day ticket is £7 and you can buy it on the bank. Listed tackle shops sell tickets too, including Bewdley Tackle & Leisure — handy if you’d rather sort the ticket before getting settled.
- For parking, the association points Dowles visitors towards pay-and-display parking and says to use its furthest top end. Its map also names Dog Lane public car park for the lower Dowles pegs.
- Keep this one a daytime outing: night fishing is prohibited. Braid is banned as well, so check what’s on your reels before heading down and save yourself a bit of bankside faff.
- Leave the swim tidy, take every bit of litter away and don’t light fires. Fish must stay at the fishery, and the association asks anglers to respect fellow anglers, other river users and neighbours.
Methods: Let the swim’s actual flow guide your approach rather than assuming every Dowles peg fishes alike. The published water descriptions cover Bewdley generally; no Dowles-specific method is named, and braid is prohibited.
