River guide
River Severn in Worcestershire
12 checked stretches so far — day tickets, club waters and guest tickets, each checked against the club's own pages.
The lowdown
The Severn at Bewdley sits in Worcestershire, with Dowles running from Dowles Brook towards town. Kidderminster & District Angling Association manages this stretch as part of its Bewdley fishing.
Across the wider Bewdley fishery, the river offers fast shallow water, steady glides and deeper swims — a proper mix of water rather than one uniform run. The association names barbel, chub, dace, roach and perch for that wider fishery.
Close season reminder
Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.

River Severn – Bewdley, Dowles
River Severn · Day ticket or members
Dowles is Kidderminster & District Angling Association’s Severn stretch running from Dowles Brook downstream towards Bewdley town. There’s day-ticket fishing on pegs 52–70, with the final two pegs kept for members.
Checked 3 Oct 2026
River Severn – West Diglis, Worcester
River Severn · Day ticket or members
West Diglis is Worcester Angling Society’s Severn stretch from the fence beside Diglis Bridge down to the Teme mouth. Large barbel, chub and bream are the headline draw, but the steep banks mean picking your swim needs a bit of care.
Checked 3 Oct 2026
River Severn – Winnall
River Severn · Members only
Winnall is Kidderminster & District Angling Association’s members-only Lower Severn water, three miles below Stourport. There’s proper flow from Lincombe weir upstream, a gravel bed and published depths of 6–12 feet.
Checked 3 Oct 2026
River Severn – Ribbesford
River Severn · Members only; separate night permit
Ribbesford is a deeper, slower-flowing bit of the Worcestershire Severn run by Birmingham Anglers Association. There’s a proper mix of fish named here, with late-season fishing getting a special mention and reported pike to 30 lb below the football pitch.
Checked 3 Oct 2026
River Severn – Arley
River Severn · Members only
Arley gives Birmingham Anglers Association members access to both banks of the Severn, in an area popular with visiting anglers. Think summer chub and barbel, then roach as autumn and winter roll round.
Checked 3 Oct 2026
River Severn – Grimley
River Severn · BAA members
Grimley is Birmingham Anglers Association’s bit of the Middle Severn downstream of Holt Fleet Bridge, where the river widens and deepens. Chub, barbel and a resident shoal of large bream give you plenty to think about over a brew.
Checked 3 Oct 2026
River Severn – Holt Fleet, Lock Island
River Severn · Members only
Holt Fleet’s Lock Island is a members-only Birmingham Anglers Association stretch on the Worcestershire Severn, with the weir pool included. The main-river side is the bit you can fish — not the whole island.
Checked 3 Oct 2026
River Severn – Trimpley
River Severn · Members only
Trimpley gives BAA members roughly half a mile of Middle Severn fishing, with barbel the named target and the pegs towards the railway bridge the ones to note. There’s a proper walk in through Eymore Wood, so keep the kit sensible.
Checked 3 Oct 2026
River Severn – Blackstone
River Severn · Members only
Blackstone is BAA’s bit of typical middle Severn water in Worcestershire, with roughly 1,500 yards of left-bank fishing below Blackstone Rock. Published depths of 4–8 feet and a species list including barbel and chub give you plenty to think about before picking a swim.
Checked 3 Oct 2026
River Severn – Newhalls Meadow, Stourport-on-Severn
River Severn · Members only
Newhalls Meadow is BAA’s stretch of the Severn at Stourport-on-Severn, with winter roach the big draw. Pole, stick float or waggler with bronze maggots is the holder’s steer — proper float-fishing territory, with frequent boats to keep in mind.
Checked 3 Oct 2026
River Severn – Hallow
River Severn · Members only
Hallow is Birmingham Anglers Association’s mixed fishery on the Worcestershire Severn below Bevere Weir. There’s a cracking spread of named species, from roach and bream to barbel, chub and large pike, with separate access routes worth sorting before you set off.
Checked 3 Oct 2026
River Severn – Ladyham
River Severn · Members only; separate night permit
Ladyham is a short Birmingham Anglers Association stretch of the Worcestershire Severn, with roughly 25 pegs and an easy-paced flow. Chub, bream and occasional large barbel are on the list, with winter roach fishing getting a proper nod too.

Species
We only tag a stretch with a fish when the club names it. Some clubs name fish across all their water rather than stretch by stretch — those are flagged on the card.

Tips & reports
Our take (editorial, not club advice): on any decent-sized river, a lead that holds bottom without dragging is half the battle — go up in weight before you go up in bait. A bit of extra colour after rain often brings barbel and bream closer in, but a fast-rising, debris-filled river is dangerous; if in doubt, don't. Weather tools built for still lakes don't translate neatly to rivers, so we haven't bolted a lake-style weather score on here.
No angler reports on these stretches yet — we'll only show real ones once our moderated river reports are live.
