River Severn – Hallow

Hallow is Birmingham Anglers Association’s mixed fishery on the Worcestershire Severn below Bevere Weir. There’s a cracking spread of named species, from roach and bream to barbel, chub and large pike, with separate access routes worth sorting before you set off.

The lowdown

  • First up, get the right bit of river. BAA lists Hallow separately from Grimley on their shared venue page, so don’t treat the two names as one stretch when planning your day.
  • Hallow lies below Bevere Weir. That’s the useful river landmark here, but it doesn’t mean every swim is a weir-pool peg. Keep that distinction in mind when choosing where to head.
  • The holder calls this a mixed fishery, and the fish list backs that up: barbel, bream, chub, roach and large pike. Plenty of choice for deciding what you fancy targeting.
  • For sections 1–3, use the BAA car park near the Camp Hotel. The postcode given is WR2 6LX. The hotel’s own car park is off limits to anglers — no cheeky parking there.
  • Sections 4–5 need a different approach. Take the track beside North Lodge off the A443, and close the access gate. Worth getting that route straight rather than adding unnecessary faff on arrival.
  • At the farm building, follow the left-hand track for sections 4–5. That takes you to riverside BAA parking. Don’t confuse this route with the Camp Hotel end; they serve different sections.
  • This is a membership job, not somewhere to turn up expecting a public day ticket. BAA doesn’t offer public day permits, so get your membership sorted before packing for the bank.
  • Fancy staying after dark? Hallow requires a separate night permit, bought ahead from BAA headquarters. Print an emailed permit before leaving home: showing it on your phone won’t do the job.

Methods: Pick your target from BAA’s named mix: barbel, bream, chub, roach or large pike. The supplied details don’t pin down particular methods, depths or seasonal tactics for Hallow.
