The full rundown on Harescombe Fisheries

Harescombe Fisheries is in Harescombe Village, Gloucester, Gloucestershire, postcode GL4 0XD. There are five stocked lakes across the main Harescombe site and the separate Naas Lane fishery. So, plenty of choice depending on whether you fancy carp, tench, bream or a more general silver-fish session.

For a straightforward pleasure day, Field Lake, Meadow Lake and Pasture Lake are the ones to have on your radar. Field has 26 pegs, carp and silver fish, with carp to 20-plus pounds. That gives it a bit of extra pull if you’re after a proper lump, while the nearby parking and car access should make getting the gear sorted fairly painless.

Meadow Lake has 17 pegs and mixes carp and silver fish with bronze bream. There are double-figure carp in the lake, so it offers a decent bit of variety for a day-ticket session. Keep the approach simple, stay mobile if the swim isn’t producing and make the most of the margins when fish are on the munch.

Pasture Lake is the smallest water, with just eight pegs. It contains tench and silver fish, with tench from approximately 2 to 8.5 pounds. It looks the natural choice if you fancy a more compact water and a proper tench target. A tidy margin approach, a patient mindset and a few sensible bait options should put you in the right sort of frame of mind.

Match Lake is match-only, so pleasure fishing isn’t permitted. It has 26 pegs, with F1s, carp and silver fish, and most pegs are only 13 metres from the central island. Regular club and open matches take place here, with Thursday open-match draws at 9am. Fishing is generally 10am–3pm from October to February and 10am–3:30pm from March to September.

Doughnut Lake is at the separate Naas Lane fishery, roughly 1.4 miles from the main site — about a five-minute drive. It has 29 pegs and small carp with some silver fish, but it’s match-only too, so not one for a casual day-ticket wander. Adult pleasure tickets are £10 for one rod or £15 for two; juniors under 16 pay £7.50 for one rod or £10 for two. Tickets are cash-only and presented on site. The lakes open at 7am, closing at 5pm from November to March and 6pm from April to October.
