The lowdown

  • This is proper town-centre fishing, right in Northampton. Handy if you want a river session without a massive trek into the sticks.
  • The stretch starts where the main River Nene meets the inlet of the Dead Arm. From there, it runs downstream to the A45 road bridge.
  • You’re fishing the left bank only. The solid footpath follows the whole section, so access along the water is nice and straightforward.
  • The fishery has a mixed coarse-fish character, with roach, chub, perch, bream, dace and carp named for the stretch. A decent spread of targets, then.
  • Main access is from the Radlands Plaza Skate Park car park, off Bedford Road and opposite the Ford dealership. Handy, but weekday parking restrictions may apply.
  • If Radlands is awkward, Midsummer Meadow Pay & Display car park on Nunn Mills Road is the nearby alternative. Its postcode is NN1 5NG.
  • This is day-ticket water, with fishing allowed from dawn to dusk only. No night fishing, so plan the session around daylight and don’t push your luck after dark.
  • The normal Northampton Nene Angling Club rules apply. You can use up to two rods where the fishery rules allow, but boats and kayaks are off limits.
  • The closed season runs from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. Fish removal, crayfish trapping and magnet fishing are also prohibited, so it’s a leave-the-water-as-you-found-it job.

Methods: This is day-ticket coarse fishing on a mixed River Nene stretch. The checked details don’t specify particular methods, so stick to the club rules and the conditions on the day.
