Fletchers — River Trent Dyke, Farndon

Fletchers is a 34-peg stretch on the non-tidal Trent Dyke at Farndon, run by Newark and District Piscatorial Federation. It’s open to members and day-ticket visitors, with stone-surfaced pegs and a proper winter recommendation from the club.

Run by Newark and District Piscatorial Federation · checked 3 Oct 2026

The lowdown

  • This is the non-tidal River Trent Dyke at Farndon, so make sure that’s the bit you’re heading for. Fletchers is Federation water, with access for both Full and Associate Members as well as visiting day-ticket anglers.
  • There are 34 pegs, numbered 37–70. Handy detail when you’re sorting your session: the numbering starts at 37, not peg one, and the car park sits near the higher-numbered end by peg 67.
  • Every peg has stone surfacing. That’s a useful bit of bank preparation across the whole stretch, rather than just a handful of swims, though it doesn’t mean you can drive straight behind whichever peg takes your fancy.
  • Peg 70 has a disabled platform, approached over gently sloping banks. That’s the specific accessible fishing spot named here, so keep that peg number in mind if a platform is important for your day.
  • The club calls Fletchers a good winter stretch. That’s the seasonal steer to tuck away when planning a cold-weather session; there’s no need to treat this as somewhere only worth considering during the warmer months.
  • Roach, bream, chub, perch and barbel are all named for Fletchers, with skimmers mentioned too. A cracking mix to have on the list, without pinning your whole trip on one species being on the munch.
  • Head in via Long Lane and Marsh Lane in Farndon. Use the car park near peg 67 unless you’ve arranged otherwise: parking behind pegs needs club permission, suitable ground and suitable livestock conditions.
  • Keep it a daylight outing. Visitor tickets cover dawn to dusk, and night fishing isn’t permitted here at all. The Federation’s river close season runs from 15 March through 15 June, so leave those dates clear.

Methods: The club names a mixed bag here, but doesn’t specify particular methods. Day-ticket anglers can use a maximum of two rods.
