The full rundown on The Monument Fishery

The Monument sits on Lamledge Lane near Shifnal, Shropshire, and is run by RH Fisheries. The published postcode is TF11 8SD. Handy one, too — it’s roughly three minutes by car or about 20 minutes on foot from Shifnal.

This is a specimen carp setup rather than a day-ticket bagging water. Fishing is by booked 36-hour sessions, with summer dates running from March to November and winter dates from December to February. Sessions are available Monday-Tuesday, Thursday-Friday and Saturday-Sunday, with Wednesdays closed.

There are two lakes in the complex: Monument 1 and Monument 2. Monument 1 is approximately 8 acres, while Monument 2 covers 10 acres and has 16 swims in total, including two double pegs. Monument 2 can take up to 18 anglers, so it’s geared around proper session fishing rather than a quick few hours after work.

Monument 2 is the big draw for anglers chasing a lump. RH Fisheries reports an initial stocking of about 650 carp, more than 100 fish over 30lb and 14 over 40lb. The lake also includes Bella, reported at 51lb 12oz, while the wider Monument Complex is reported to hold carp over 50lb and 65lb. Plenty there to keep the kettle on and the alarms interesting.

The session format is nicely clear. Summer starts at 6:30am and finishes at 6:30pm the following day, while winter starts at 7:00am and finishes at dusk the following day. Summer 2026 sessions are £80, with a £40 deposit and £40 payable on arrival. Winter 2026 is £70, split between a £40 deposit and £30 on arrival.

Facilities are a strong point. There’s a lodge and bait shop, gents’ and ladies’ toilets with power showers, disabled toilets, wheelchair-ramp access and two specially designed disabled swims. The car park is next to the lodge and protected by CCTV, with 24-hour infrared CCTV around the fishery. Food deliveries from local restaurants and cafes are available too.

There’s a firm rulebook, so get your kit squared away before turning up. All feed bait must be bought from the fishery, although your own hookbaits are allowed. Boats, braided reel lines, plastic leaders, nuts and plastic baits are banned, alongside several named rigs. It’s a two-rod venue, with a minimum 12lb main line, and the fish-care rules are strict — exactly what you’d expect around carp of this stamp.
