The full rundown on Wolverhampton Angling Association Pools

Wolverhampton Angling Association, or WAA, is a proper club-water setup covering several venues around the Wolverhampton area. The official listing names Penkridge, Otherton, Pendeford, Brewood, Wombourne and Four Ashes, so there’s a decent spread of waters rather than one single pool to book.

Wombourne is the most clearly described stretch. It sits on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, starting at Dimmingsdale Lock and running through to Botterham Lock. The stretch is split into six listed sections, which is handy when you’re trying to work out where to drop in rather than having a vague “fish the canal” instruction.

Those sections run from Botterham Lock to Brick Bridge, Brick Bridge to Giggetty, Giggetty to Round Oak, Round Oak to The Bratch, The Bratch to Awbridge and Awbridge to Awbridge Lock. Access points include Botterham Alleyway, Brick Bridge, Plank Lane, Round Oak, Bratch Lock, Awbridge Farm and Lower Penn.

The wider WAA waters are listed as holding roach, bream, chub, carp, gudgeon and perch. Pendeford is described as having roach, perch, bream and a few carp, while Otherton has carp, gudgeon, roach, chub, perch and bream. Four Ashes is listed with roach, bream, chub, carp, gudgeon and perch too.

There isn’t a published lake size for the association waters, and the Wombourne page doesn’t specify its species list. So this looks more suited to anglers who enjoy figuring out a stretch, finding the features and adapting on the bank than anyone chasing a guaranteed stockie session or a named lake record.

Permit-wise, the annual adult ticket is £20, with OAP and disabled angler permits at £15. Children under 16 fish free. A one-day permit is £2.50, with day tickets available from bailiffs at Penkridge, Four Ashes and Wombourne, plus the Bridge Inn, Brewood Caravan Park and listed local tackle shops or other sellers.

Wombourne parking is available at Awbridge Farm for £1 per car. No official opening hours, closed-season dates or night-fishing policy are published on the reviewed pages, so check the latest club position before planning anything outside a straightforward daytime session. Club and open-match bookings have separate listed contacts, which is useful if you’re looking to get a match sorted rather than just turn up with the gear.
