The full rundown on Beechwood Park Fishery

Beechwood Park Fishery is a six-lake complex near Elvaston, with roughly 25 acres and around 170 pegs spread across the site. It looks like a handy all-rounder, whether you fancy a busy mixed-coarse session, a family day out or a proper go at a carp. Day tickets are advertised from £4, and there’s an on-site tackle shop for bait and end tackle if you’ve forgotten a cheeky essential.

Swan 1 is the obvious place to look for a lively silver-fish session. It has 14 pegs, carp commonly reported at 3–6 lb, and a large head of roach and rudd. Match catches are reported to exceed 60 lb, so this is the lake that stands out if you like keeping the float busy and getting a few lumps of silver in the net.

For a bigger carp target, Kingfisher is the one that catches the eye. It’s the largest lake in the complex, with 40 pegs, and the official description says it’s heavily stocked with carp, roach and rudd. Carp are reported to reach approximately 15 lb, giving you a realistic chance of fishing for a proper lump while still having silver fish in the frame. Bring balanced tackle and check the current advice before choosing your line and hooklength.

The other lakes offer some useful features to fish around. Swan 2 has 24 platforms and two islands, with a larger platform suitable for disabled anglers or families. Warren Lake also has 24 pegs, all positioned on a central island reached by bridge. Oak Lake has 30 pegs and an island running through the centre, with carp, roach and rudd listed for the fishery. Historical information also mentions perch, skimmers and tench.

Horseshoe Lake is currently used as a growing-on pond, so it isn’t presented as a normal day-ticket fishing lake. Before travelling, it’s worth checking which lakes are available, where you’ll be allocated, and whether anything has changed. Night fishing isn’t advertised on the current official website, so confirm that directly rather than turning up with the bivvy and having a proper faff.

The rules are nice and clear, but don’t skip them. Barbless hooks are required, with size 12 the maximum, and everyone must fish from the designated platforms. Bring a landing net and disgorger. Feed pellets are allowed only when bought from the on-site tackle shop, although pellet or paste can be used on the hook. Take all litter home, too. With toilets, advertised disabled access and telephone or online enquiries available, it’s a straightforward venue to plan around.
