Lower Breamore, Hampshire Avon

Lower Breamore gives you a mile of Hampshire Avon fishing near Fordingbridge, run by Ringwood & District Anglers Association. It’s west-bank fishing with a cracking mix of species, club access and guest tickets rather than public day tickets.

Run by Ringwood & District Anglers Association · checked 6 Oct 2026

The lowdown

  • There’s a full mile of fishery here, with fishing restricted to the west bank. That’s the side to stick to when sorting your session — access doesn’t give you the run of both banks.
  • The coarse-fish line-up includes chub, roach, barbel and dace, plus bream, pike and eels. Plenty of choice for deciding what to target, without needing to make the whole outing about one species.
  • Grayling and trout are listed too, while trout and salmon fishing is available in season. Keep that separate from the coarse calendar: coarse fishing runs from 16 June through to 14 March.
  • Spinning is expressly permitted, so that’s one approach you can put on the list. With pike and trout both named, there’s more here than just the usual coarse-fishing options — stick to the relevant season.
  • Normal hours start at 7am and finish one hour after sunset. Worth having that finishing time sorted before settling into a swim; an evening session still needs to fit the fishery’s clock.
  • Fancy a bit longer on the bank? A night permit takes you to 11.30pm from 16 June to 31 October, then 10pm from 1 November to 14 March. It isn’t an all-night ticket.
  • Access is through Shallows Farm, using its parking arrangements, and you’ll need a club key. Get that bit bob on before setting off, rather than leaving yourself a faff at the access point.
  • Stay strictly on the riverbanks and leave the section between the two trees opposite Castle Cottage unfished. Around overhead cables, the association recommends keeping at least 20 metres away — a proper important bit of session planning.

Methods: Spinning is permitted at Lower Breamore. Choose your target from the listed species and keep the coarse season and seasonal game-fishing availability in mind.
