North End Farm Ibsley, Hampshire Avon

Two miles of Hampshire Avon at Ibsley, North End Farm is a Ringwood & District Anglers Association members’ water with a proper mixed bag of fish. It’s an autumn-and-winter coarse venue, with a September start and no overnight fishing.

Run by Ringwood & District Anglers Association · checked 6 Oct 2026

The lowdown

  • There’s two miles of river here, so this isn’t just a cheeky little corner of the Avon. North End Farm sits at Ibsley and is run by Ringwood & District Anglers Association.
  • The coarse season runs from 1 September to 14 March. That puts autumn and winter firmly on the agenda, rather than summer evenings on the bank. Access is prohibited from 15 March through 31 August.
  • Barbel, chub, roach and bream are all named for this stretch. That gives you a cracking mix to think about when packing the tackle, without having to make the whole session about one fish.
  • The list doesn’t stop there: perch, pike, carp, eels, grayling and trout also feature, plus some tench. Don’t confuse that variety with a free choice of tactics, though — spinning, artificial lures and fly fishing are prohibited.
  • Keep an eye on the clock. Ordinary hours are sunrise until two hours after sunset; night-permit holders may fish until 10pm. That supplement isn’t permission to settle in for an overnight session here.
  • For parking, there’s the roadside verge at Ibsley Bridge or the club car park at North End Farm. Follow the gate sign for the latter, and remember that a club key is required.
  • Give other anglers a bit of breathing room on your way along. The walking route follows the fence line, roughly 20 feet back from the river, to avoid disturbing anyone already fishing. Salmon anglers have priority.
  • Overhead electricity lines cross the fishery — a proper safety point, not a minor detail. The club recommends fishing at least 20 metres away. Leave the video recording out of your session plans too; it’s prohibited.

Methods: Keep your approach within the bait-fishing options: spinning, artificial lures and fly fishing are all prohibited. Salmon anglers have priority, so give them room when planning your session.
