The full rundown on Tunnel Barn Farm
Tunnel Barn Farm is a genuinely large commercial complex in the village of Shrewley, built around 9 named pools (including New, High, Extension and House) plus access to 2½ miles of the Grand Union Canal, and the fishery has been open to the public for over 25 years according to its own site.
It markets itself hard at both match anglers (weekly Over-50s and Over-60s/Vets club matches, regular open matches, and big events like Fish-O-Mania and Maver Match This qualifiers) and day-ticket pleasure anglers, with over 300 pegs across the site and a number of designated disabled pegs.
The official prices page is behind a price table that wasn't fully readable from the search snippet and is dated '1st April 2025' for club/match bookings — a third-party UK Fisherman listing gives adult day tickets 'from £9' with concessions and half-day tickets available, but that figure is undated and should be treated as a rough historic guide rather than today's price; call the office or check the fishery's own prices page for the current day-ticket rate.

Tunnel Barn Farm FAQs
How many pools does Tunnel Barn Farm have?
Nine named pools, plus access to 2½ miles of the Grand Union Canal, and over 300 pegs across the complex.
Is Tunnel Barn Farm open every day?
Yes — the fishery states it's open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, though note the main driveway gates and the fishery complex gates run to different opening/closing times.
How much is a day ticket?
We couldn't pin down a confirmed current day-ticket price from the official site at the time of checking; an undated third-party listing quotes 'from £9', but call the office or check the fishery's own prices page before travelling.
Where's the nearest tackle shop?
There's onsite tackle shop and café (open 0730) on site, so you can grab bits on the day. For anything bigger, stock up before you leave home — or order online in advance.
Do I need to bring food?
There's onsite tackle shop and café (open 0730) listed, but opening times vary, so pack snacks and plenty of water just in case — especially on a long session.
Are there toilets on site?
Not that we've seen listed. The fishery doesn't say on what we've checked, so give them a quick call before you set off.
Is there parking, and how close is it to the swims?
Yes — parking behind the majority of pegs. Walks to the further pegs can be a trek, so a barrow helps.
What's the postcode for the sat nav?
CV35 7AN. CV35 7AN is Shrewley Common — the fishery has two sets of gates with different hours (main driveway gates and separate fishery complex gates), so check the official site's current opening times before you set off, especially for the earlier complex-gate closing time in winter.
How much is a ticket?
Adult day ticket (third-party listing, undated, treat as approximate): from £9.00; Over 50s / Over 60s club, joining fee: £10.00; Over 50s / Over 60s club, per match: £14.00. Prices last checked Club match pricing dated 1 Apr 2025; day-ticket figure from an undated third-party listing, checked 2026-10-01 — they can change, so check before you go.
Can I just turn up, or do I need to book?
Day tickets are available on High Pool, New Pool, Extension Pool, House Pool. Busy weekends can fill up, so ring ahead if you've got your heart set on a swim.
What fish are in there?
Across the lakes you'll find carp. See each lake tab for which fish live where.
How many lakes are there?
4 — High Pool (unconfirmed), New Pool (unconfirmed), Extension Pool (unconfirmed), House Pool (unconfirmed).
Is night fishing allowed?
We haven't seen a clear night-fishing rule. The fishery doesn't say on what we've checked, so give them a quick call before you set off.
Can I bring my dog?
Not covered in the rules we've checked. The fishery doesn't say on what we've checked, so give them a quick call before you set off.
Are bait boats allowed?
We haven't seen a bait-boat rule listed. The fishery doesn't say on what we've checked, so give them a quick call before you set off.
Do I need barbless hooks?
Most UK fisheries prefer barbless or micro-barbed hooks — ask on arrival if unsure.
Do I need my own unhooking mat or cradle?
Bring one either way — most fisheries expect it and the fish deserve it.
Is it suitable for disabled anglers?
The fishery lists designated disabled pegs. Ring ahead to check which swims suit you.
Do I need a rod licence?
Yes — anyone 13 or over fishing in England and Wales needs an Environment Agency rod licence (or Natural Resources Wales in Wales), on top of your fishery ticket.
When's the best time of year to fish here?
Late spring through autumn is prime for most species. Check our live weather edge for this venue before you go — it updates daily.

Bait, rigs & seasons
How we'd fish High Pool
carp
Light baiting tight to the island margins
Carp patrol the island margins on most venues. A handful of bait right on the edge often beats a heavy bed in open water, especially later in the day.
- Walk the bank first and look for bubbling, swirls or coloured water by the cover.
- Bait two or three spots with a few handfuls of chopped and whole boilies.
- Lower or flick the rig in quietly and back your line off with a back lead.
- Keep the drag set tight-ish — fish hooked by cover need turning quickly.
carp
Chod or helicopter style over soft weed and silt
Where the bottom drops in and out of holes or there might be soft silt or weed, a pop-up that slides up the leader sits over the muck instead of disappearing into it — no need to find a perfectly clean spot.
- Single pop-up, 2–3in off the bottom.
- Fish it as a single hookbait or with a light scattering of freebies — a big bed defeats the point.
- Cast to likely holes and let the lead settle; don't drag it back.
carp
Zigs in the warmer months
In clear, deep water carp often sit up in the layers on warm days. A zig is the only way to get a bait in front of them.
- Start at half depth and move up or down a foot at a time until you get bites.
- Black or foam hookbaits work well on bright days.
- Keep it simple — no freebies needed.

chub
Bread or worm tight to cover for chub
Chub sit under overhanging trees and snags and are cautious, so a quiet approach and a natural bait near cover catches them.
- Bread flake or lobworm on a size 8 hook with a link leger.
- Keep low and quiet on the bank.
- In summer, try a free-lined slug or floating crust.
perch
Worm or small lure for the perch
Perch hang round cover, boats and drop-offs. A lobworm on a light float, or a small lure worked along the features, will find them.
- Fish lobworm under a float tight to cover.
- On lures, try a small drop shot or soft shad near features.
- Feed chopped worm to keep them in the swim.

New Pool
- Keep the drag set tight-ish — fish hooked by cover need turning quickly.

Our take on the feedback
Our read
Checked Sept '26 — “A big, long-running Warwickshire match-and-pleasure complex with 9 named pools, 300+ pegs and 2½ miles of the Grand Union Canal, open 7 days a week year-round.”
This is our own summary of recurring public feedback and the venue details we checked, not a copied customer review or a promise you’ll catch. Feedback changes, so we keep it separate from the Tackle Index score.
