We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready

The lowdown

  • This one sits immediately downstream of BAA’s Grimley Fishery, with the river section running upstream of Bevere Lock. A handy bit of Severn water if you’re after a proper river setting.
  • The river fishing is on the right bank and extends for approximately half a mile. The checked details don’t give a peg count for the river section, so that bit stays unknown.
  • There are also three small pools tucked into the fishery. Pools 1 and 2 have approximately 30 pegs between them, giving the venue a more managed, fishery-style feel.
  • Pool 1 is stocked with carp. Pool 2 holds tench, crucians and some silver fish. Pool 3 contains no fish and is awaiting stocking.
  • Pools 1 and 2 can be booked for contests, which should suit organised club days and match anglers. Nice and bob on if you’re sorting a proper event rather than just a quiet session.
  • The fishery is reached from Camp Lane via Retreat Farm. Follow the BAA signs for access and parking — don’t go freelancing around the farm entrance.
  • The entrance gate is locked. Your BAA membership card carries the lock code, and the gate must be shut and locked both when entering and when leaving. No cheeky shortcuts here.
  • BAA says there is no night fishing at Retreat Farm. Plan a daytime visit and check the relevant rules before setting up.
  • Carp cannot be retained in keepnets, except during contests. Members must carry their BAA card and hold the appropriate Environment Agency licence.
  • The official coordinates are 52.234112, -2.243634. The access is near Bevere Lock and Bevere Island on the River Severn.

Methods: The venue covers coarse fishing on the Severn and in the three pools, with carp, tench, crucians and silver fish specifically named. Pick your approach around the river section or the pool you’re booked onto, and stick closely to the BAA rules.
