The full rundown on Hampton Springs Fishery

Hampton Springs sits on Shay Lane, Hampton, near Malpas in Cheshire, with eight spring-fed lakes and purpose-built swims. It’s a proper mixed setup rather than eight versions of the same pond. There are compact coarse waters, island-filled lakes and a separate specimen-carp option. That gives you plenty to weigh up before choosing a peg, whether your idea of a cracking day is variety in the net or settling down with carp tackle.

For mixed-species appeal, Poplars packs plenty into half an acre. Its central island and average depths of 4–6 feet give the lake a clear shape, while the listed stock includes common and mirror carp to 16 lb, tench, bream, roach, perch, crucians, chub and barbel. Meadows takes a different shape again: one acre, four islands, and a stock list featuring green and golden tench alongside barbel, bream, chub and perch. Plenty of choice without making everything about carp.

Alice Springs and Long Island lean more firmly towards carp tackle — and that’s a requirement, not just a suggestion. Pole fishing is prohibited on both, and both need advance booking. Alice Springs has two islands across two acres, depths of 4–7 feet and carp advertised to 20 lb alongside mixed coarse fish. Long Island covers 2.5 acres and advertises carp reaching 30 lb. If you’re eyeing up the bigger lumps, that distinction is worth clocking before you book.

There’s more feature variety on Rock Pool, where five islands and lily beds break up 2.5 acres of water. Willows has two long islands and a bridge to the far side, with carp, F1s, crucians and barbel among its stock. Those are useful differences when choosing the sort of water you fancy, rather than just chasing a headline weight. Oasis needs a separate check because it’s rented by Lymm Anglers and only has limited pleasure fishing.

Folly is the one to treat separately from the day-ticket lineup. It’s a three-acre specimen-carp lake with ten well-spaced pegs, but its dedicated page says syndicate-only. Older day-ticket wording elsewhere shouldn’t be taken as a green light to turn up. Phone for membership details instead. For other waters, pay-on-the-day fishing depends on availability, match enquiries go through customer service, and night fishing needs arranging. A quick call can save a proper faff.

The practical bits include a tackle and bait shop with some refreshments, plus gents’, ladies’ and disabled toilets. Read the rules before packing bait: bread, floaters, surface fishing and bait boats are out, and only Hampton Springs boilies and coarse pellets are permitted. Bring an unhooking mat, dip every net and keep to two rods maximum. Published opening hours can change seasonally, so check your intended session rather than assuming every visit works the same way.
