River Severn – Holt Fleet, Lock Island
Holt Fleet’s Lock Island is a members-only Birmingham Anglers Association stretch on the Worcestershire Severn, with the weir pool included. The main-river side is the bit you can fish — not the whole island.

River Severn – Holt Fleet, Lock Island
The lowdown
- The weir pool is the headline feature here, and it’s included in BAA’s Holt Fleet fishery. So this isn’t just an island address: the pool is part of the fishing on offer.
- Keep the boundary bob on. Fishing is restricted to the main-river side of the lock island, so don’t treat access to the island as permission to fish all the way round it.
- BAA names barbel, pike and salmon for Holt Fleet. That’s the fish line-up to keep in mind here, rather than padding your plans with other species just because it’s the Severn.
- For the approach, take the service road off the A4133 immediately before Holt Fleet Bridge. That’s the route given for this fishery, with parking in the lay-by on the approach road.
- To cut down the arrival faff, the parking what3words is ferried.playing.arrow. BAA also gives WR9 0HT separately for Holt Lock; keep the lock address and the parking location distinct when planning your journey.
- Once you’ve parked, cross the lock gates to reach the island. That crossing is part of the stated access route, so your arrival plan needs to include it, not just finding the bridge.
- This is strictly members-only fishing, not somewhere to turn up and buy a public day ticket. Visitors and picnics are prohibited too — leave the idea of a bankside family gathering out of this one.
- No cheeky overnight session here: night fishing is prohibited. BAA also requires caught fish to go back into the water, and members must hold the appropriate Environment Agency licence alongside their membership.
Methods: Barbel, pike and salmon are the fish BAA names here. No particular method is specified in the supplied Holt Fleet details.
