Uckinghall & Bushley — BAA
Uckinghall and Bushley are deep River Severn stretches run by Birmingham Anglers Association. Proper interesting water, with bream shoals, the chance of a big barbel and very good pike fishing.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- Uckinghall starts immediately downstream of Withy Cottage, giving you a clearly defined bit of Severn to settle into.
- The water is described by BAA as very deep, so this is not a shallow little wade-and-roam job. Pick your swim carefully and respect the depth.
- BAA names shoals of bream as a key feature. That points to feeder work being worth a look, especially where the flow settles.
- There are odd barbel about too, usually very large. A cracking bonus fish, but definitely one to treat with care if you connect.
- The venue is described as very good for pike. Lure or deadbait approaches are the obvious angle, subject to the association rules and your own licence requirements.
- Uckinghall access is on foot from land behind the BAA car park. The car park postcode is GL20 6ER, handy for getting the right starting point.
- Bushley has its own BAA car park and is approached from Upton via the A4104 and B4211. Its car-park postcode is WR8 0JP.
- Big warning for Bushley: the access track gets deeply rutted by farm machinery. When it is wet, BAA says you may need a 4x4 with good ground clearance. Properly check the conditions before setting off.
- Keep it tidy and low-faff: close gates, stick to paths or tracks, remove litter and park only where the BAA maps show. Do not block gates or tracks.
Methods: The deep water, bream shoals and occasional big barbel make feeder fishing a sensible starting point, while the pike fishing is a major draw. Match your approach to the swim and take extra care around the venue’s very deep water.
