Scenic UK carp lake at dawn

Fishery guide · Dorset

Todber Manor Fisheries

Todber Manor is a proper mixed bag: specimen carp and catfish, island-filled coarse water and match lakes across an advertised 11-lake complex. Pick your lake carefully — a silverfish day and a session chasing lumps are very different trips here.

“7.7/10 — Advertised specimen carp, large catfish and mixed-coarse options give several distinct reasons to wet a line.”

The full rundown on Todber Manor Fisheries

Todber Manor Fisheries sits at Manor Farm, Todber, near Sturminster Newton, Dorset, DT10 1JB. The complex advertises 11 lakes totalling 28 acres, with specimen carp, catfish, mixed coarse fishing and match lakes all in the mix. That gives you plenty of choice, but this isn’t a case of picking any old peg and expecting the same fishing. Choose the water around what you actually fancy catching.

For the bigger-fish crowd, Big Hayes is an obvious starting point. It has eight acres, 18 gravel swims and parking bays behind most swims — a handy detail when there’s a fair bit of kit involved. The fishery lists specimen carp and catfish exceeding 50lb. Little Hayes brings approximately six acres, 15 gravel swims, carp, specimen bream and catfish, while two-acre Paddock has seven gravel swims and catfish advertised above 80lb alongside specimen carp.

Willow Bank offers a different layout: 2.1 acres, ten gravel pegs and fishing from a single bank. Its advertised carp range runs from doubles into the high 30lb bracket, so there’s proper appeal for carp anglers. Homeground, meanwhile, was revamped for 2025 with carp and catfish. It has approximately 1.5 acres and six gravel swims, with its description setting it out as a whole-lake booking for up to six anglers.

If you’d rather keep your options open, Wadmill is worth a good look. Its four acres hold carp, perch, tench, bream and pike, with four islands giving the lake its main named features. There are 31 pegs and a perimeter gravel barrow track. Fishing is advertised year-round, with pike fishing during the winter months. That seasonal distinction matters: don’t assume the pike option applies whenever you happen to fancy a go.

There’s plenty beyond the specimen waters, too. Hill View has 28 pegs and two islands across 2.5 acres. Ash is predominantly silverfish, including bream, ide, tench, perch and roach. Six-peg Firs holds carp, tench, perch, bream, roach and rudd, while Whitepost comprises two lakes with carp, small tench and crucians. Firs, Hill View and Whitepost each have a published £10 day-ticket option — useful choices when you’re after a straightforward day rather than an overnight session.

The on-site tackle superstore covers carp, match and lure equipment, which is a handy extra. Booking is available by telephone, and specimen-lake pages also offer online availability and booking. Big Hayes recommends booking ahead and requires full payment. Homeground needs particular care: its whole-lake description conflicts with an individual ticket displayed on the same page, so ring before committing. Finally, the published opening hours belong to the tackle shop, not lake access — keep those two things separate when planning your arrival.
